Melamine Powder Manufacturing Process

Melamine powder is an organic compound with the molecular formula C3H6N6 and is a white crystalline powder. The production process of melamine mainly involves the following three steps.

First, synthesize cyanuric acid. Urea and sodium chloride are added into the reaction kettle in a specific molar ratio, heated and stirred, and the chlorination reaction is carried out to generate urea chloride.Then, the chlorinated urea is reacted with sodium peroxide to produce cyanuric acid. Cyanic acid is a colourless precipitate, and pure gas acid is obtained by filtration and washing.

Next, melamine is synthesized. The obtained cyanuric acid is mixed with urea or urea in a specific molar ratio and added to the polymerization reactor. The reactor is heated to a suitable temperature, nitrogen or air is introduced, and the melamine is generated by polymerization reaction through the action of a catalyst. After the polymerization reaction is carried out for some time, the product is cooled to obtain solid crystalline melamine.

Finally, the melamine is purified. The melamine obtained from the synthesis is washed with cold water to remove impurities. Then, acid treatment with an acetic acid solution was carried out to dissolve the water-insoluble impurities and further improve the purity of melamine. Finally, the solvent and other impurities are removed by distillation purification to obtain high-purity melamine.
